I hope y’all had a great holiday weekend. Mine was very good and saw the return of workout motivation and some great times with friends and family.
Saturday:
40 mile ride followed by a 2 mile run- it was hot, but I was super pumped about both the ride and run. I’m not a very fast cyclist so averaging 19.4mph for almost 40 miles is great for me!
bike: 39 miles/2:00:30/19.4mph (need to get the exact info from my bike)
run: 2.01/17:34/8:45 min pace
Sunday was a mix of relaxing by the pool, grilling out and helping our neighbors construct a float for the neighborhood July 4th parade (did I mention there’s never been a float in the parade before?). We seriously love our neighborhood and neighbors- so fun!
baked sweet potato fries + r0asted veggies (asparagus, squash and zucchini); grilled corn + burgers (we get our meat from a local farm so it’s seriously delicious!)
July 4th started off with a great run with B. Our normal Monday evening run group met in the morning instead so we ran a longer route to the group meeting point, ran with the group and then ran home for a total of 11 miles. At first I didn’t have a total distance goal in mind for the run, but then I started thinking… July 4th 7+4= 11 so that’s what we did! Sorry there are no pictures from the run, but to give you an idea, at least 4 people asked me if I had run through some sprinklers …not a pretty sight- it was HOT and I sweat- ALOT!
Run: 11.05 miles/1:39:06/8:58 pace
After a quick swim (read- fall into the pool to try and stop sweating), shower and breakfast, it was off to the parade. The float was a huge success and definitely the way to go in TX in July! We capped off the holiday with some fireworks viewed from the parking garage at my office. Great long weekend!
Happy 4 day work week!!

Looks like a fun and workout filled weekend! I love your 4th of July 11-miler idea. Dorky but cute. I’m interested in your 21 day plan you’ve mentioned. I need to clean up my diet but would rather follow something than leave myself to my own resources. Where can I find it?
i’ll email you the details on the program we did- it’s local but i think you could replicate it “at home”
